Assalamualaikum and happy holidays to Universiti Malaya family. Mid-sem break has come through and it marks the end of our Social Engagement project. I still cannot believe that we make it, guys! Thank you to all dear members for giving your full commitment and cooperation throughout our Youth Attack project. Not to forget our beloved and supportive supervisor, Dr. Nazri Bin Mohammad Nor. And also our cheeky yet lovely participants, the students of SMK Shah Alam, Selangor. You guys make our dream project comes true!
Personally, i had a joyful and splendid 3 days 2 night at SMK Shah Alam. And i believe that all my fellow members also feel the same as i do. During the preparation for Youth Attack, we had many meetings and discussion back to back mostly at night. Honestly, it is tiring me since we also have classes to attend during the day. But believe it or not, all the joy and fun we had at SMK Shah Alam swept off all my negative vibes and tired feeling. Especially when we have two supportive leader, Syafiq and Shahidan who keep encouraging the members to be productive. Even it is difficult to gather all the members complete in every meeting, we still communicate well with each other and everyone were doing the task given properly.
I was the person in charge for the Journey After SPM slot, together with Ashraf. Working with Ashraf is very nice since he is kind and gives out many good ideas for our slot. At first, we both were hesitating to do this slot since we are not confident to talk in front. But eventually, we were doing good. We actually slay it! Ashraf present the personality test result confidently to the student. And for me, i manage to stand and give a good talk to the participants and share as many as informations and experiences on my journey right after SPM to them. I really glad that i choose to be the person in charge for this slot. It really boost my confidence level and taught me to be brave and always be calm in every situation. As for the explorace slot, i handled the game together with Dina and Shahidan. We had a very upside and down moment while conducting the game. I mean, we had a lot of fun! The student were very loud during the ‘blind maze’ game but it was fun to witness their determination to win the game. For the 3 days event, i really have to say this- my day was full with laugh and joy! Thank you everyone!
One thing that stuck in my mind is how impressive are the attitude of the participants. All of them were very behave during the 3 days event. Besides, they were very creative and determined in every task given. As example, they can perform a wonderful theater despite the short time given for them to practice. I learn a lot from their determination.
After the event ended, our members went to Bangsar to have lunch together. Even Though not all the members joined the lunch, i can feel that our relationship getting deeper. It means that i gain more friends in UM, Alhamdulillah.
Overall, social engagement courses indeed has teach me a lot. Most importantly, this course taught me to be confident when giving speech in front of others- which is my big weakness. I also learn to appreciate friendship and make new friends as well as improves my communication skills. I will definitely join other social engagement project in the future and anticipated to gain new experiences and strengthen my soft skills- solid reason why i eagerly waiting for the next social engagement activity.
I think that is all for our Youth Attack memories and experiences from me. Till we meet again. Assalamualaikum.
