Hi! This is my story of Youth Attack with my friends. It begins with the merging of two groups of fellow which want to achieve the same goal of helping community. Along the journey, we faced difficulties of reaching consensus with outside parties until finally SMK Shah Alam welcomes us. We are very honoured to have their trust on us to help their students. It also marked that we have moved one step forward. During the preparation phase, I enjoyed practising Zumba the most, followed by housekeeping for funding. Zumba practise was very fun and the steps are easy to remember and I actually missed Zumba with them again. For the housekeeping part, that was my first time doing such things. It was very thrilling as we met many people and dogs. Fortunately, we succeeded to achieve our target of collecting RM600.
During the three days programme, we have done so many activities with the students such as explorace, interview simulation, sharing session and even theatre. Some of the activities are for their future preparation once they completed high school. As sisters and brothers, we think it is our responsibility to help them as we have experience. On the first day, I enjoyed Interview Simulation session as I get to interact with the students and assist them on their interview skills. They seem shy but I believe that they have the potential and it needed to be sharpened. On the second day, I had fun watching them performing theatre which we call it as “Theatro de Suenos”. I was amazed by their talent as they were given a short time but still, they managed to came up with many amusing stories. On the last day, we had Go Green session which the students were asked to create costume using recyclable materials. Once again, I was amazed by their creativity. I still remember, there was one group who made a wearable school-building costume which was very rare and totally outside my box. With that, we had finally came to an end. Time sure flew very fast.
This programme went well but I think we should improve in time management and punctuality. It is very important because like what we have seen, punctuality causes drag of time and it affect others. Other than that, I have gained confident to speak in English in front of other people and I realized that I need to have more self-esteem especially when talking to a big crowd. I will take it as a challenge and try to improve on that aspect as it is a must-have skill nowadays. The students also indirectly taught me to do my best in everything and complaint less like them while my friends made me realized many hands can make work light. Although this programme is quite tiring, I never regret doing it and I will do it again because we do not know which of our good deed can be helpful to others and sometimes, small deed can make a big change. That is all from my Youth Attack story. I will end it with phrases that I hold onto “ Everything will passed, so enjoy the moment dearly before it turn into memory “.
