Reflection; Yu Chin

First ,i felt so excited when i knew that the Social Engagement course that every students need to take was required us to organize the activities such as volunteering or something that show our leadership skills. After a few meeting with the members, we finally decided to do a 3 days 2 night camp which is from 5 April to 7 April 2019 at SMK Shah Alam. As a treasurer, i had discussed with my group members about the estimated amount of money that we need to organize this camp ,so to get some money we decided to do some housekeeping and donation, not only that, we also sell the t-shirts that designed by our group members to cover the cost. Everything was going well as we got some money through what we had done. We also did a lot of preparation before the camp such as discuss about what activities that we going to do throughout that 3 days of camp, decide on who going to in charge in each of the activities, practice some zumba dance and bought the materials that we needed. At the first day of the camp,I was the person who in charge for registration. When i see there was a lot of participants come to register,i was so excited and can't wait to start our activities as soon as possible. The first activity is ice breaking which is the introductory and grouping session and i became the facilitator of one of the group which is "spiderman" group. At first, the members of the group seen very awkward and did not know what to say but they slowly become close to each other after introducing themselves to group member. They also need to create their own cheers and the cheers that they come out was great and they seen very enjoy in this session. Then, the next activity is Interview Tips where the students learned about what they need to do when they are going to interviews and create their own resume. After interview tips, we did the interview stimulation to see how far they learn from interview tips, as the interviewer in this session i found out that the participants were not so good in speaking English and some of them can't even understand the question. But there were also some participants that has a high confident when answer the question. So, after the interview stimulation we will give some advice to them about the important of English and what they need to do during the interview. On the second day, we started our camp with Zumba dance which was conducted by my group members and I. I was so happy when i saw that the participants were enjoying the zumba dance and dance with a high spirit. The school also has their own "senamrobik" team that going up to the stage and dance with us, they were so good in dancing. After that,we proceed our camp with Journey After SPM activity where they were exposed about what requirement needed and where can they go to pursue their studies such as Matriculation, Diploma, STPM and after the talk we also has the sharing session where we as the facilitators told them about our experience in studies. Then, we continue with Let's Debate session where each group were given a topic and they need to debate with thw opponent team about the topic, through this session I can see that the participants were so good in debating with a lot of ideas. Next is Aspire to Inspire where participants were told to write down their problem and we as the facilitator help to solving it, this activity show to me what are they facing now. We continue with the most exciting activity which is explorace, participants can play a lot of games in this session that we prepared after a few activities that related to talks. I was in charge in puzzle solving session, participants seen so excited while solving the puzzle to beat their opponent team and quickly finish the games to win the overall games. At night, we started the Theatro De Suenos, this activity show that the participants was so talented in acting and come out with so many great ideas. I was so enjoying their performance. On the third day which is the last day, we started with Go Green activity where each group were given the recycle materials and they need to design their models with the material. I noticed that they was so creative after saw the models that they designed. After that, we come to last activity which is Closing Ceremony, participants was rewarded with the gifts that we had prepared as the appreciation for them to join this camp. Then, we also take a lot of photos to keep as the memories. I felt sad because the camp had come to the end after the photo session. As the conclusion, I had gained a lot of new experience in this 3 days camp. I was so inspired with the participants about how much they want us to give them the tips on what they need to do after SPM and how they can pursue their studies. From this, I has the initiative to improve myself to help more SPM students to give them some knowledge and information on what they need to do after SPM so that they get to continue their studies. I was so enjoying in this camp and I hope that i can participate in more volunteering activities like this in the future. It such a great experiences for me and I love it so much!
